Otters have been long known for their playful nature and adorable habits, that I find endearing. When I kayak in the wetlands, I often see otters frolicking at dusk, and it gives me so much joy watching them in their natural habitat. This very curvy bittersweet vine gave life to the otter and my love for them. I wove this piece in a dimensional weave with rust, tan, orange and brown hand dyed reeds. Once heavily hunted for their thick prized fur, North American river otter populations continue to rebound and, in my home state of Connecticut, I am happy to say that the population is large and stable.
