I love butterflies, and, one of my favorites species is called Bolla. As a child, when living in Mexico and South America, I loved to watch their iridescent wings flutter in the tropical sunlight. The entangled structure of this bittersweet vine reminded me of their wings – compelling me to create an abstract of their beauty for you to enjoy. Bolla is elegant and complex, just like a butterfly. I wove it in a cluster of bittersweet to represent its wings and made the bowl of hand dyed reeds in amethyst, yellow, and orange.
