According to ancient Sanskrit texts Murdas are hand gestures used to evoke a state of mind. They are meant to bring attention to certain qualities that we wish to cultivate within ourselves. One of my favorite mudras is Shuni, because it fortifies patience, compassion, and understanding. In this stressful world, sometimes we all need a little more patience and compassion. Just looking at the way the tip of the middle finger meets the tip of the thumb gives me a feeling of inner peace and the fortitude to open my mind to understanding and intuition.
